Who is Mansimar Aneja?

In all honesty, I don’t know the answer to this question. Until January 2024, I was a loved husband to my beautiful wife, a blessed father to my little angels, a devoted son to my parents who always let me live my dreams, a brother who always had the support of his sisters and just a guy who was passionate about music and technology.

I decided to pursue learning music because of the ghazals of Jagjit Singh. When I was in 4th grade, I started music classes with my current Gurus – The Kalluri Sisters (Late Shri Jyothi and Sarada Kalluri). I completed my Masters in Robotics in the US and then worked there for 3 more years before relocating back to India. I restarted my music Riyaaz with my Guru in 2015. In 2023, I lost Jyoti Ma’am to cancer. She had been a teacher, a guide and a sister to me for 21 years. In January of 2024, while waiting for a long-delayed flight I decided to write and compose music. 5 months later – I have released my first single “Raas Na Aayi”. I feel it would be wrong to call it mine as it was possible only by the Grace of God and the blessings of my teacher. Everything I know and will ever about music is because of them. And so today, I seem to have transformed into an Independent Artist. I didn’t know the meaning of this term 5 months ago – but today I realize that the most liberating thing about the term is the Independence in being Independent. I can write, compose and sing anything that my thoughts bring to me. There’s no genre or set pattern to any of my songs, because when you are a Nobody the possibilities are endless…
